April Edition of Soweto Poetry Workshop

Apr 21 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Mandi Vundla hosts Soweto Poetry Workshop at Eyethu Lifestyle Centre

The city of Johannesburg has become a centralized hub for the poetry community: a creative
economy developed by young citizens who stem from the township and commute to the city to become
a part of the thriving arts community.

Poet, arts entrepreneur and co-owner of the Word N Sound Literature Company, Mandi Vundla is
one such poet.

The co-editor of the poetry anthology ‘Home Is Where The Mic Is’ was born and bred in Soweto and
throughout the years, has travelled extensively to the city to establish a career in poetry.

The Soweto Poetry Workshops are an initiative to develop the poetry community within the
township. Part of the Mandi Vundla’s mission is to revive the culture of literature embedded in Soweto’s DNA.

The monthly workshops will also seek to explore the Soweto poetry landscape and to nurture aspiring writers in our own backyards.

Through the Soweto Poetry Workshops, Mandi aims to feed into the local arts economy in partnership with Eyethu Lifestyle Centre.
